Dumpling Workshop

Nothing is more satisfying than pleating up a batch of homemade dumplings.

You'll make:

Dumpling Dough
Japanese Potsticker Dumplings (meat filling and/or sesame-vegetable filling)
Scallion-Sesame Dipping Sauce


1) After registering, you will be sent a link to log into the class at the appointed date/time. 

2) You will be sent a shopping list and equipment list ahead of time so you know what to have on hand (that list is also found below, so you know what you're getting yourself into).

3) One day before the class you will be sent the recipes to print out, so they can follow along at home.

4) Classes are 90 minutes and will have a maximum of 8 kids attending each session. 

5) For once, we can teach literally anyone on the planet (not just New Yorkers!), so please feel free to pass along the class info to anyone your child might want to cook along with.



Because grocery shopping is not so easy these days, here is a sneak peek at what you will need in case that is helpful:

(enough groceries to feed 4 people; please halve for smaller households)

1 pound ground pork, chicken, turkey, or extra firm tofu (if making vegetarian dumplings)
1 head green cabbage (Napa or Savoy is ideal, but regular green cabbage fine too)
1 bunch scallions
4 ounces mushrooms, any kind (for vegetarian dumplings only)
1 large carrot (for vegetarian dumplings only)
1 2-inch piece fresh ginger
2 cloves garlic
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ cup high-temperature oil (canola, grapeseed, avocado, etc)
Salt and pepper
2 teaspoons sugar
¼ cup soy sauce
¼ cup toasted (dark) sesame oil
¼ cup rice vinegar (or any vinegar other than balsamic)
Cutting board and knife
Rolling pin, for rolling out dough

10- or 12-inch nonstick pan with lid (or something that approximates a lid)

4 medium to large mixing bowls

Grater, with large holes
